Selected card acceptance
Limit the acceptance of more expensive card types and reduce your card payment costs.
How it works
Some cards, typically business cards or cards issued outside the EU, come with higher transaction fees. This feature lets you restrict their acceptance where card scheme rules allow it.
When card details are entered, the gateway automatically identifies the card type. If the card is restricted, the customer is informed that it cannot be used and can choose another card or payment method instead. This helps you reduce card payment fees.
For payments via Apple Pay and Google Pay, the gateway does not always have precise information about the card type used. If you want the restriction to apply in all cases, you can disable Apple Pay and Google Pay by contacting customer support or configure the feature via API.
When it is useful
This feature is particularly useful if your customers often pay with more expensive business cards.

receive many payments with business or non-EU cards,
want to reduce transaction fee costs,
want to guide customers towards lower-cost payment methods.
